Course Overview
Update your training certification for Fast Rescue Boats (FRB) with this STCW course. Under the STCW 2010 requirements for training and certification, updated FRB proficiency training needs to be undertaken every five years. This course provides the essential education and training set out in Table A-VI/1-2, with assessment carried out by direct observation and oral questioning.
Entry Requirements
Before embarking on this course candidates must hold a current STCW FRB Certificate, which must be brought to the course as evidence.
Those wishing to reduce the training time using a Route 1 self-declaration for on-board training requirement form (Annex E (iii)) must have this completed and signed at the start of the course. This self declaration includes the following:
- take charge of a fast rescue boat during launch
- take charge of a fast rescue boat after launch
Delegates unable to make this declaration will need to complete the whole day.
Assessment Methods
Following successful completion of this course, you will be able to:
- carry out routine maintenance procedures for FRB
- carry out pre-use checks of FRB
- carry out PPE checks for crew and self
- brief crew for recovery duties
- undertake recovery of a casualty from the water
- capsize a FRB in a controlled environment
- undertake righting of a FRB
- re-board a FRB
Industry Placement and Field Trips
This course has no industry placement and no field trips.
