Cookies
All of our web pages use "cookies". A cookie is a small file of letters and numbers that we place on your computer or mobile device if you agree. These cookies allow us to distinguish you from other users of our website, which helps us to provide you with a good experience when you browse our website and enables us to improve our website.
Types of cookies we use:
- Strictly necessary cookies - these are essential to enable you to move around the website and use their features. Without these cookies certain functionality on the site would break and security of your information would be reduced.
- Performance cookies - these cookies collect information about how visitors use a website, for instance which pages visitors go to most often. We use this information to improve our websites and to aid us in investigating problems raised by visitors. These cookies do not collect information that identifies a visitor.
- Functionality cookies - these cookies allow the website to remember choices you make and provide more personal features. For instance, a functional cookie can be used to remember the volume level you prefer to use when watching videos on our website. The information these cookies collect may be anonymised and they cannot track your browsing activity on other websites.
- Targeting cookies - these cookies are used to deliver adverts more relevant to you and your interests. They collect information about your browsing habits. Targeting cookies are linked to services provided by third parties, such as 'like' and 'share' buttons and advertisements. We use targeting cookies to send third parties information on your visit so that they can make their advertising more relevant to you when you visit their websites.
Within these definitions cookies may be either first-party, set by www.blackpool.ac.uk, or third-party which are set by other organisations that we use for different services. The tables below identify the cookies we use and explain the purposes for which they are used. This includes the 'duration' of the cookie; either Session Cookies, stored only for the duration of your visit, or Persistent Cookies which are saved on your device.
Most web browsers allow some control of most cookies through the browser settings. To find out more about cookies, including how to see what cookies have been set and how to manage and delete them please visit www.allaboutcookies.org.

However, we continue to collect information about third-party cookies and the tables below are based on the work completed to date. Accordingly, we may update the information contained in this section from time to time. Additionally, some cookies may be set from time to time by feeds from third party websites that we make available on our sites.

Facebook Tracking Pixel
Beyond our use of cookies to enhance your experience on our site we also utilise the ‘Facebook pixel’. This is a piece of JavaScript code embedded on our site that enables us to track visitors movement through the site and record specific actions and events which we use to better inform our advertising on the platform.
Flash cookies
Many websites use Adobe Flash Player to deliver video and game content to their users. Adobe utilise their own cookies, which are not manageable through your browser settings but are used by the Flash Player for similar purposes, such as storing preferences or tracking users.
Flash Cookies work in a different way to web browser cookies; rather than having individual cookies for particular jobs, a website is restricted to storing all data in one cookie. You can control how much data, if any, may be stored in that cookie but you cannot choose what type of information is allowed to be stored. You can manage which websites can store information in Flash cookies on your device via the website storage settings panel on the Adobe website.
