Course Overview

Watch our short course video

This course provides an opportunity for Coxwains to demonstrate their knowledge and skills in practical situations, which cannot reasonably be practised offshore. This course is offered with the option of twin, single fall or combined fall training. If you are in doubt as to which you need, please check with the Rig Operator or call us to discuss on 01253 504800.

This course is OPITO approved and is valid for UK waters and areas where OPITO courses are accepted.

Validity of certificate

Two years, including OPITO registration. The certificate must be revalidated before the expiry date or up to three months before (incurring no loss of time on the new certificate start).

Entry Requirements

You must be in possession of a current in-date Basic Offshore and Emergency Training (BOSIET) certificate or an in date Further Offshore Emergency Training (FOET) certificate.

You must also hold an in date Offshore Lifeboat (TEMPSC) Coxswains Basic/Further Training certificate. You must bring your current certificate as proof of eligibility, or other appropriate evidence i.e. Vantage printout, when you attend the course. The evidence must show the expiry date of your current certificate, which needs to be in date, or you may not be able to undertake refresher training, which could result in having to transfer to a Basic Coxswains course at a later date.

It is your responsibility to provide such evidence. Please contact us if you are unsure of the validity of your previous training.

Delegates are required to specify which training they require i.e. twin-fall or twin-fall with single fall conversion.

Career Options and Progression

This course will refresh the skills required to provide adequate emergency response. It may also enhance your career prospects, though this is not guaranteed.
