Course Overview

This qualification is based on the HSE training standard for delivery of First Aid at Work courses for the purposes of the Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981. The aim of the qualification is to enable students to refresh their knowledge and competencies needed to deal with a range of emergency first aid situations. Students should be able to demonstrate the practical administration of safe, prompt, effective first aid in emergency situations with an understanding of the role of the first aider.

Validity of certificate 

This certificate is valid for three years.  It is advised to attend annual three hour updates between three yearly refreshers. Find out more here -  First Aid at Work - Qualsafe (Annual Refresher).

Medical declaration

All delegates will be required to complete a medical declaration during the course induction and elements of the course are of a physical nature i.e. CPR practical.

Entry Requirements

Delegates attending this course must hold an in date Qualsafe First Aid at Work certificate.

Career Options and Progression

Employers have a duty of care under the Health & Safety First Aid regulations 1981 to make first aid arrangements, this qualification may be a mandatory requirement of employment or increase employability.

This course covers the following topics:

  • CPR Assessment
  • Unconscious Casualty Assessment
  • Wounds Bleeding and Shock Assessment
  • Fractures
  • Secondary Survey Practical Assessment

Industry Placement and Field Trips

This course has no work placements and no field trips. 

Other Costs and Equipment Needed

The course fees include registration and certification, no equipment is required.
