Course Overview
This qualification is based on the HSE training standard for delivery of First Aid at Work courses for the purposes of the Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981. The aim of the qualification is to enable students to refresh their knowledge and competencies needed to deal with a range of emergency first aid situations. Students should be able to demonstrate the practical administration of safe, prompt, effective first aid in emergency situations with an understanding of the role of the first aider.
Validity of certificate
Three years (It is advised to attend yearly three hour updates between three yearly refreshers).
Medical declaration
All delegates will be required to complete a medical declaration during the course induction, elements of the course are of a physical nature i.e. CPR practical.
Entry Requirements
Delegates attending the 2 day First aid at work refresher must have an in date certificate with them.

This course covers the following topics:
- CPR Assessment
- Unconscious Casualty Assessment
- Wounds Bleeding and Shock Assessment
- Fractures
- Secondary Survey Practical Assessment
Teaching and Learning Methods
The Emergency First Aid course is delivered in a classroom and combines 50% theory and 50% practical based learning.
Industry Placement and Field Trips
This course has no work placements and no field trips.
Other Costs and Equipment Needed
The course fees include registration and certification, no equipment is required.
