Course Overview
This course provides Merchant Navy Officers in Chemical Tanker trades with an approved course covering the MNTB and STCW syllabus, providing an in-depth appreciation of the hazards of transporting chemical cargoes. Personal safety and the protection of the environment are essential elements of this course.
Course duration
5 Days - usually 09:00 – 17:00 Monday/Tuesday to Friday/Saturday. Homework and private study form part of the training.
Entry Requirements
Those undertaking this course must have completed their basic training for oil and chemical cargo, and must have also completed the Tanker Fire Fighting Certificate.
You will be required to bring:
- Your Discharge Book. For delegates who, by the nature of their employment, are not issued with a Discharge Book, your passport or driving license will be required
- Your certificates for the prior training you have undertaken, as above.
Your Certificate of Completion may be withheld until the evidence above has been seen.
Assessment Methods
There are four outcomes to this training:
Outcome 1: The learner understands the chemical and physical properties of cargoes and the hazards and control measures associated with carrying chemicals on board tankers.
Outcome 2: The learner knows what is involved in the safe operation and monitoring of cargo on board a chemical tanker.
Outcome 3: The learner is able to apply health, safety and environmental precautions in working on a chemical tanker.
Outcome 4: The learner is able to perform and monitor safe chemical tanker cargo precautions in compliance with legislative requirements.
