Course Overview
This course is OPITO approved and is valid for UK waters and areas where OPITO courses are accepted. If in doubt, please check with the Rig Operator.
This OPITO approved certificate will be issued at the end of training as an E-Certificate.
It is mandatory that you bring your current certificate as proof of eligibility or other appropriate evidence i.e. Vantage print out, when you attend your course. The evidence must show the expiry date of your current certificate. It is the delegate’s own responsibility to provide such evidence.
Validity of certificate
This certificate is valid for 2 years from date of issue. The certificate must be refreshed before the expiry date or up to 3 months before course enrolment date, incurring no loss of time on new certificate start.
Entry Requirements
Delegates must possess one of the following:
(a) A valid OPITO Offshore Emergency Response Team Member certificate
or
(b) A valid OPITO Offshore Emergency Response Team Member Further Training certificate
The evidence must be produced on the first day of the course.
Assessment Methods
To achieve the Offshore Emergency Response Team Member Further Training the learner will need to complete the mandatory unit:
- OIS-15 Further Practical Exercises for the OERTM

Teaching and Learning Methods
This course is approximately 10% theory and 90% practical.
Other Costs and Equipment Needed
Most of the course is of a hands-on practical nature. The usual dress code for theory sessions is smart/casual. You will also be required to bring:
- Writing materials
- Personal wash kit
- 100% cotton overalls
- 1 change of clothes
- Personal wash kit
- Safety boots/shoes are provided as part of your fire kit
