Chief Mate SQA Exam Support (One Subject)

This course prepares you for your Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) external examinations administered by the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) and is designed to support both Navigation and Stability examinations.

Students enrolled on this programme will have either their Navigation or Stability examination outstanding. They will be enrolled alongside an existing cohort leading up to their SQA examinations. Apart from receiving one to one support, students will also benefit from peer-to-peer learning, particularly from the other students appearing for these external safety examinations.

You will have already gained the academic knowledge required following the requisite period of sea service holding your first Certificate of Competency (CoC).

The course is part of a suite of qualifications that forms part of the criteria required to apply for the Chief Mate Certificate of Competency and is designed to develop the higher management skills to work in a senior role on board a vessel.

This course is suitable for students who have previously attempted SQA in either Stability and/or Navigation and require support to achieve a Pass.

Minimum 5-week course is our requirement for anyone making a third attempt or more.

The course fee shown does not include the MCA/SQA exam fee.
