Students enjoying enrichment activities

Enrichment: Supporting professional development

At Fleetwood Nautical Campus, we are dedicated to supporting students’ personal and professional development. From the moment you arrive and throughout your programme of study, you will have access to an exciting range of enrichment activities. These are facilitated by highly experienced and qualified instructors.

Our enrichment activities fall into three categories:

Cadet development course (CDC)

This induction residential programme introduces new cadets to the elements of task and workload, with a focus on effective resource management techniques. A series of exhilarating adventure activities build class cohesion while developing leadership skills in the most challenging of situations.

Activity-based training (ABT)

All students take part in weekly ABT sessions as part of their timetable programme. Activities include:

  • kayaking
  • canoeing
  • orienteering
  • rock climbing
  • football
  • badminton
  • bowling
  • squash
  • archery
  • team and personal development challenges

Our MUGA (multi use games area) pitch is marked out for numerous sports and is available to students outside of the normal college day to get some well needed recreation and exercise. Find out more here

Evening and weekend opportunities

A variety of evening and weekend enrichment opportunities allow students to build friendships and maintain a good level of fitness. They include free weekly sessions for rock climbing, 5-a-side football and badminton. We run adventure trips to the Lake District, and skiing and snowboarding trips to Manchester’s Chill Factore. We can also organise other similar trips on request.
