Student Spotlight: Bruce (Blended Learning)

Bruce Knibbs Completes SQA AdC for Officer of the Watch Through Blended Learning. 

Fleetwood Nautical Campus is proud to celebrate the success of Bruce Knibbs, who has recently completed his SQA Advanced Diploma (AdC) for Officer of the Watch through the campus’ innovative Blended Learning programme. This flexible study route enabled Bruce to continue progressing academically while maintaining his duties at sea.

Reflecting on his journey, Bruce expressed deep appreciation for the support he received throughout his studies:

“The support from staff at Fleetwood has been unbelievable. When you’re studying on your own, that support becomes invaluable. My go-to people were Sandra, Katrina and Barry, they were all incredibly helpful.”

Bruce, who is returning to Malaysia where he works as a Deck Supervisor aboard the drill ship West Capella, described his time at Fleetwood Nautical Campus as both rewarding and professionally enriching. He shared that the positive experience has strongly influenced his future plans:

“My experience here has been better than anywhere else I’ve experienced, I wouldn’t go anywhere else.”

Bruce has indicated that when he next seeks to advance his maritime career, Fleetwood Nautical Campus will once again be his first choice for further training and qualifications.
