Fleetwood Nautical Campus Represented at British Tugowners Association Conference
Fleetwood Nautical Campus was proudly represented at this year’s British Tugowners Association (BTA) Conference in Liverpool, with Head of Campus, Neil Atkinson, attending and contributing to the day’s discussions.
The conference brought together key figures from across the maritime sector, providing valuable insight into current industry developments. As part of the programme, Neil delivered a presentation to members, sharing an update on modern apprenticeships and the continued development of training pathways within the sector.
A standout moment of the event was the presentation of the BTA Trainee of the Year Award. Neil had the honour of presenting the award to Svitzer apprentice Mara Kruze, alongside Karrie Trauth, President of the UK Chamber of Shipping.
Congratulations to Mara from everyone at Fleetwood Nautical Campus on this well-deserved recognition.
Reflecting on the event, Neil also highlighted the opportunity to reconnect with a number of Fleetwood alumni now working across the maritime and towage industries. It was particularly encouraging to see many former students progressing into senior roles and making a positive impact within the sector.
Events such as the BTA Conference continue to demonstrate the strong connections between industry and training providers, and the important role Fleetwood Nautical Campus plays in supporting the next generation of maritime professionals.
